Geralt of Rivia is far from a simple character, and neither is his place as a witcher in the world created by Andrzej Sapkowski. Widely regarded as an abomination paid to kill other abominations, Geralt’s moral convictions, philosophical outlook and personal development reveal a striking irony: the perceived monster is often more humane than those he protects. That hostility frequently goes both ways. Through Alex’s performance, the song captures Geralt’s contempt for those who force him to choose between one evil and another, as well as society’s lack of gratitude for his often heroic and compassionate actions.
