"Feel the Love" ist ein brandneuer Wohnzimmer-Dancefloor-Banger von Daði Freyr, der am ersten Tag des neuen Jahres als Statement an die Welt veröffentlicht wurde - 2021 wird sein Jahr.
Der Song wurde in Daðis Heimstudio in Zusammenarbeit mit seiner isländischen Kollegin ÁSDÍS produziert und aufgenommen - sie war auf Daðis 2019er isländischem Album "& Co." zu hören. "Feel The Love" markiert nun die erste vollständige Zusammenarbeit zwischen den beiden mittlerweile in Berlin lebenden KünstlerInnen.
ÁsdÃs sagt:
"It was during Covid and it had been so damn long since I was at SchwuZ which is my favourite among the plethora of queer bars in Berlin and i was craving the freedom, the pageantry and the LOVE. "All sweat, no tears" was the first line written in the song and the hook came shortly after and within the first minutes we knew this was something special".
ÁsdÃs erkannte schnell, dass dies ihre neue Hymne war. Ihr wurde immer gesagt, sie sei "zu viel"; als Kind, als Freundin, als Angestellte, als Entertainerin. Sie fuhr fort: "Maybe they hoped I would somehow find my inner mute button, who knows? And now I feel like I can finally say, who cares? That's what the song is about. Who cares what other people think even if they seem like they have all of their shit together? Other people's opinion of you holds only the power you give it. It's imaginary. The power you have over yourself is the realest thing in the world so you also have to make sure that your biggest hater isn't yourself".
ÁsdÃs brachte den Track dann zu Daði Freyr. Die beiden waren schon seit Jahren sehr gut befreundet, und ÁsdÃs war bereits auf dem Song "Náum aðeins andanum" auf Daðis 2019er Album "& Co" zu hören. Ursprünglich wollte Daði den Song nur produzieren, doch am Ende schrieb er mit und sang auch auf dem Track mit.
ÁsdÃs sagt:
"In about three sessions we were very close to the song as you hear it now and it was like the ground was bubbling underneath us. We knew we were standing in an active volcano of crazy dancing and I literally can't describe how good it feel to finally share this song with the world".
Daði sagt:
"ÁsdÃs MarÃa is one of my all time best friends. ÁsdÃs showed me the song when we were having a little get together at my house and I somehow managed to convince her to let me in on it. This is the first time I release something where I was not in the room when the first idea was born. ÁsdÃs is both a ridiculously talented songwriter and singer, but she is also an amazing performer. I have all the confidence in the world that she is going on to bigger things and I'm honoured to have been part of her journey."
Mit dem Video wollte das Duo eine Person zeigen, die das Gefühl hat, dass die Welt gegen sie ist, die aber ihren Weg zur Selbstliebe findet. Während sich das Video entwickelt, sehen wir, wie der Tänzer sich von der Meinung anderer Leute über ihn löst und seine eigene Schönheit und Einzigartigkeit entdeckt.
Daði und ÁsdÃs spielen viele verschiedene Charaktere, als Arbeiter im Gehirn des Tänzers und in seinem Herz und Magen. Sie reagieren, während die Reise des Tänzers zur Selbstentdeckung weitergeht. Je glücklicher der Tänzer wird, desto glücklicher werden auch die Charaktere in seinem Körper; schließlich verwandeln sich die lästigen kleinen Insekten in seinem Bauch in wunderschöne Schmetterlinge. Macht Sinn, oder?
Das Video entstand in Zusammenarbeit mit Bear Film TV Berlin, die den in Berlin lebenden Performer George N Roses in der Hauptrolle engagierten. "Our amazing director Mia Hennig and George nailed every scene and really shot it into the stratosphere", sagt ÁsdÃs. MarÃa Guðjohnsen fügte später die SFX hinzu.
Bezüglich der Song-Botschaft sagt ÁsdÃs: "It's a constant struggle trying to fit into the mould that other people make for you and "Feel the Love" is a reminder to anyone that feels misunderstood that there is no point in making others happy before you give happiness to yourself. It is everything I had always wanted to say to myself and in the way I wanted to say it - super fast and to a four-on-the-floor."
Daði Freyr fügt hinzu:
"This is the second time that a video I release is not made just by me and my wife Árný Fjóla. The last video I did with a full production was Think About Things. That was a real financial risk for me and I am so lucky it worked out the way it did. Since Think About Things I have way more freedom when it comes to the ideas of videos. I no longer only try to come up with ideas that can be made with just me and Árný, I have a lot more freedom to make bigger things now. Although me and Árný still have lots of ideas that we can do ourselves and that probably always be happening alongside the bigger videos."
